Lifeguard Needed for Everton Summer Camp

SCOUTS CANADA ~ Everton Summer Cub Camp ~ Job Description

Position: Lifeguard


Objective                              To support the Scouting mission and programs by providing

                                                supervision, engaging programs and activities, and ensuring

                                                a safe environment at our Camp pool and Riverfront.


Reporting to                                    Camp Director


Dates of employment        Summer Camp 2017 will run:

-       July 2nd – 7th

-       July 9th – 14th

-       July 16th – 21st

-       July 23rd – 28th

-       July 30th – Aug.4th

-       Aug. 6th – 11th


Camp Staff will be required to attend training June 16th – 18th.




1)  Ensure that the swimming pool is being used safely and in accordance with Camp, Government and Scouts Canada policies.

2)  Work cooperatively with another lifeguard to provide fun and engaging pool programs and special events.

3)  Ensure that all the campers know all of the rules, regulations and expectations for using the swimming pool at Camp.

4)  Swimming pool maintenance as required by health regulations.

5)  Life guarding and teaching swimming lessons as required.

6)  Be an active member of the camp team, supporting all other programs offered at Camp.

7)  When not supervising pool during swim times or engaged in pool maintenance, all lifeguarding staff are expected to support the camp program as required.

8)  Ensure full compliance to all applicable risk management policies and procedures by program participants, volunteers and employees.

9)  Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.




1)  Enthusiastic and positive attitude

2)  Current NLS

3)  Current First Aid and CPR

4)  Have experience working with young people

5)  Enjoy camping and the outdoors

6)  Must be willing to become a member of Scouts Canada and to submit to a screening process. A police record check is required for staff 18 years of age and older.

7)  Must be willing to abide by the Mission and Principles of Scouting.



Working Conditions


❖Lifeguards will receive accommodation and will be required to remain on-site at Camp for the duration of their employment.

❖One day off per week will be provided, commencing Friday evening until Saturday evening.

❖Lifeguards will receive all meals at Camp during the Camp’s operational periods.
